happy new year

I always have the same feeling this time of year, the time for a new year!  Inspired!  Motivated!  Excited for a new tomorrow, a fresh start, a clean slate if you will. I don't put much stock in resolutions, although that doesn't seem to stop me from making them, and well, lets not use the word fail, lets use incomplete them.  I like to think about trying your best everyday to be successful at the things that mean the most to you.  Your job, your family, your home, your body, your faith.

With that said, I have high hopes for 2010, both personally and professionally.  On the personal note, some readers may or may not know that I got married this past summer to my best friend and biggest supporter - my Kelly.  His encouragement is never failing and for that I love him dearly (maybe he will even let me photograph him this year, so you all can meet him :) ).  We hope to start a family this year, so everyone cross your fingers!  I hope to continue to be happy and healthy, and expand my heart and mind, and well, there is always marathon training coming for the 3rd year in a row..sheesh!

On a professional note, I cannot WAIT for 2010.  I have some seriously awesome weddings booked and I am so excited to capture some truly amazing images for my clients.  I am attending more workshops this spring and hope to learn all kinds of new tricks and tips, and meet all kinds of awesome peeps!  I am offering some really spectacular new products this year, which, as I was writing this post one more was delivered to my front door step, YES!  This is officially going to be my last post with this blogging format, as I have been working like a dog to build my new brand complete with a new website, blog, and super cool business cards, which will all be making their debut in a few weeks!  Are you excited?  I'm excited! I have a strange determination like I have never experienced before, I have such faith in my business and have surrounded myself with such encouragement that I can't help but be completely and totally motivated, and that's a great feeling!

So that's about it for my new years post, except for a few things.  One, a huge HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my wicked 2009 clients, as well as my insanely cool 2010 clients!  Two, a post wouldn't be the same with out images, so here are a few from this Christmas season (our puppy Maggie - less than impressed with me, me trying out my new LensBaby - woohoo, and I love frost on trees - so canadian winter).  And three, an inspirational quote to carry you into 2010;

The Ivey's

This family is very special to me, you see Janelle (the momma) and I have been friends FOREVER.  We met in junior high - became the best of friends, part of each others families, and I'm pretty sure my parents love her more than me :)  I can't wait to reap all the advice I possibly can on being a great momma from her when Kelly and I have kids.

It was so nice to photograph this adorable family a few weeks back.  The little boys were so awesome to let me take so many pictures of them despite the ridiculous wind storm that was approaching!  Alberta weather!  I hope they like this sneak peak because there is more where this came from.  Enjoy!

I had the opportunity to photograph the battle of the salons 2009 at the edmonton events center a few weeks back.  Chad from pure elements in sherwood park hired me to capture this awesome event.  Thank you chad for the amazing evening and the wonderful experience.  Enjoy.

         

jana & kyle

It was truly a pleasure to photograph this wedding.  Jana and kyle are down to earth and just ooze radness.  They were married at shalom park, and for those who have not been there it is such an awesome intimate venue.  Special thank you, thank you to my sister karla of lilypad photo arts for coming up from calgary to shoot this with me - we were awesome together!  We started the day with what could have been a bride meltdown moment, but not with jana - she was so cool and calm :)  the ceremony was very sweet and to the point, just like the bride and groom :).  The reception truly brought out the personalities of jana and kyle - with probably the most romantic engagement story i've ever heard (jana i sure hope you've given kyle some extra brownie points to burn for that) but seriously kyle - standing ovation.  But then we had the pleasure of the belly button fetish story, and i'm not sure what to do with that even yet :)  I hope you like your sneak peak of the wedding images.

vanessa & nikki

Well, what can I say....these two rock!  vanessa and I have known each other for a while now, and I have to get a little mushy here and say this girl is the sweetest, most genuine, and most loyal person I know.  She has a heart of gold and is so strong - there is not much she can't do.  Anyway, she allowed me to photograph her hot self a few weeks ago, and has been waiting very patiently for this post :) enjoy!

I have to admit that I don't know nikki as well (vanessa's roomate) - but she let me photograph her hotness too, so that makes her really rad :)  enjoy!

Hey everyone, I'm super excited to launch sweet p photography's new look!  I love how it turned out and couldn't wait to share it with you.  I had the logo done by the ever awesome Leanne McBean of Pep Media.  She did a fab job.

Hey everyone, sorry for the long awaited post :(

I'm pleased to announce that I've been busy booking, accumulated new gear, and of course learning from my fabulous mentor Rachel Johnson of Rachel J Photography.  So stay tuned for images displaying some new techniques :)  Also, stay tuned for a new look for sweet p photography, we're learning and growing and will soon have an awesome and funky new look.

Anyway, back to the post from our trip to Boston for my oldest sisters wedding celebration.  We had a chance to site see for a few days, so I tried to grab a variety of images for you guys.  Boston is a fabulous city full of culture and character, and of course the Boston Red Soxs :)  Enjoy!

This was a memorial dedicated to the victims of the holocaust.  There were 7 glass pillars with 1 million sets of numbers in each pillar - each set of numbers represented one victim.  Heartbreaking.....
